Brewery then and now

Further to October's entry on the Brewery that was once in the market Square. A picture now and in 1974;

I wonder what became of the weather vane on top of the Brewery?

Masonic Hall

A picture of the Masonic Hall.

Conspiracy theorists have a field day when it comes to this building, but rumours that the crew of the Marie Celeste, Lord Lucan and Amelia Erhart have all stayed there, are, of course, just speculation.

Everything else is true.....including the one about.....and......and......

Now and Then

The old Seed Mill, at the back of Carmichael's the grocers in 1974 and last month.
Thirty years after barn conversions were all the rage in Edinburgh comes Coldstream's answer. 30 years being about the right amount of time required for new-fangled ideas to filter into the Merse.
Speculation that it might take another thirty years to finish this conversion seems perfectly reasonable.

Armistice Parade 2006

Photos at last of last years Armistice Parade. Quite a few new band members out that day, see entry in November 2006.

A good picture of the band leading the parade, complete with glimpse of the Meenister. The picture of our destination, the town memorial, taken last month.
The parade of ex-servicemen and women gets smaller each year, which is quite natural as time moves on, but, the event has an enduring quality.
